JUNIOR LEARN TO ROW
Students going into grades 9-12 can learn to row by joining SRA’s high school team. No prior experience is required!
ADULT LEARN TO ROW
Adult Learn to Row (LTR) is a six-week beginner program for adults (18+) of all ages and fitness levels with no prior rowing experience. The series is divided into two parts. Try Rowing is a two-week introductory class and is a mandatory prerequisite for Learn to Row, a more in-depth, four-week class for those who want to know more.
After successful completion of the six-week program, rowers are eligible to join one of SRA's masters teams as a novice. Practice switches from two days a week in LTR to three days a week, on the opposite days. 5 a.m. and Mid-Morning switch from Tuesday/Thursday in LTR to Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Evening switches from Monday/Wednesday in LTR to Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday.
After one novice season, rowers can continue with the team and/or choose a Small-Boat Membership to row independently.
SRA offers Learn to Row only in summer due to weather and low-light conditions during the rest of the year. Please contact the Learn to Row director with any questions. We invite you to learn to row with SRA!

Prerequisites
Attendance policy
Learn to Row is a concentrated series that packs a lot of information into a short period of time, so attendance is essential. Rowers in Try Rowing are allowed one absence in the two-week course. Rowers in Learn to Row are allowed no more than two absences in the four-week course.
If it is necessary to miss more than the allowed number, rowers should work with their coach to schedule makeup classes in another time slot. For example, if a rower needs to make up two classes they missed in a particular week, the rower will need to attend their own two regular classes in the following week(s) plus two classes in a different time slot.
Rowers who exceed the number of allowed absences and fail to participate in makeup classes will not be allowed to advance to the next level. Rowers who do June/July Try Rowing and are unable to attend June/July Learn to Row may sign up for July/August Learn to Row.
